What exactly is a Very Good Cause?

VeryGoodCause.com is our virtual collection plate -- not much different than SaveKaryn.com and a little more transparent than the Million Dollar Homepage. We are not a registered charity; supporting us is not considered tax-deductable but it will allow us to continue to amuse you and to bring you useful information, code, and other projects. Think of it as virtual karma.

We are pretty flexible about what we are looking for; we aren't just hoping to get your cash donations. At VeryGoodCause, we will also happily accept swag -- think of award show swag a.k.a. "stuff we all get" -- for keeps or for us to review and return (some restrictions may apply) or your promotion of this page or any of our websites or projects. We're also willing to talk barter -- you scratch our back, we'll scratch yours -- or even negotiate ad space on our sites.

If you'd prefer to donate to a charitable organization, we'd like to suggest JustGive.org (if you are in the U.S.) -- they offer one-stop to donate to your choice of over a million (no I'm not making that up) non-profit organizations. In Canada, check out CharityVillage and their Charity Storefront.

Option A

You're still wondering who the heck we are, what we do and why we want your help. Browse around this site to learn more and if you decide we're your kind of nutjobs, you can donate money or other support to make our job easier. Like we say around the Very Good Cause World Headquarters (VGCWHQ or "VEEgok wooHEYqueue"-- go ahead, say it): "Don't Give Til It Feels Good. Give Till It's Funny." Find out how.

Option B

You already know who the heck we are, what we do and why we want your help. You probably already know we do this stuff in our free time. We ask that you help us make this a full time gig. Give us enough and eventually we'll create a corps of Very Good Cause people -- we'll call them Causeticians -- to amuse and educate the world, one web user at a time.

Option C

You don't care who the heck we are, what we do and why we want your help.You made a donation to the Human Foundation. You supported TBA. You gave to Tom Delay's Very Good Cause Foundation. You have to spend ten million dollars in 24 hours. Let us introduce you to our Very Good Cause.

Option D

You REALLY don't care who the heck we are, what we do and why we want your help. You can't find the back or home buttons in your browser. Your mouse is broken. Some two-bit hooligan has tied you to a chair in front of a computer and this is the webpage they loaded. You don't want to support us, you just want to leave. Fine by us, just tongue the tab key down here and hit enter with your nose.
