About a Very Good Cause
Who We Are
We are Mike and Cheryl DeWolfe, also known as "Those DeWolfes", formerly known as "Those Crazy DeWolfes." You might ask us, "What happened to the 'crazy' part?" Good question. Basically around the same time we created a smaller version of ourselves, we decided to start a company of our own. The company lost money; the kid happily filled our every waking moment (and some of our sleeping moments, too); ergo, we had neither spare time nor spare cash with which to be crazy. We're over most of that now -- we still have the kid, of course, but she's older and a little more independent now.
Origins of This Site
We have found that people are amused by many of the things we create, and we would like to devote
more time -- ideally all of our time -- amusing people with our creations. Unfortunately, we still have food and shelter
and other things that need to be paid for so right now we both work full time at regular 9to5 type jobs. We decided to start
"Very Good Cause" for the same reasons that people have started million-pixel advertising and other internet panhandling sites.
Specifically, we were inspired by references to bogus charities on both Saturday Night Live (Tom Delay's Very Good Cause Foundation)
and also Arrested Development (Charity TBA). We're not trying to fool anyone into believing we are a charity, bogus or otherwise, but we
thought you'd like to know where we came up with the idea.

Our Work
What do we do? Why do we deserve your money? We work on a lot of interesting and entertaining projects. If you donate money via a Very Good Cause, we can do more stuff to entertain you.

- Fabulous Home Project - Reviews of household gadgets and products, plus articles about better living, and stories about making our home a bit more fabulous.
- Frugal Victoria - This site was created in leaner times to track ways of saving money in our hometown.
- Jumping Moose - Shortcuts through life: tips and tricks (in development)
- Media Nook - Reviews of movies, books, TV shows and other media.
- Mike DeWolfe: An Idiot With A Webpage - A venerable site of articles, opionions and pieces about technology, cooking, scultpure, writing, SF and more! (more is always good)
- Mike DeWolfe: Blog - The general stop for the timely stuff that catches Mike DeWolfe's attention. Rants, raves, advice and weird thoughts all rolled into one.
- Neo Zombies - In development, please stay tuned
- RBlog - Generate RSS feeds with this ASP driven tool.
- Technically... - A site full of technical innovations in web design and web application development.
- Those DeWolfes Podcast - our thoughts recorded for your amusement; future podcasts may also feature our daughter.
- Unofficial Guide to Victoria - online since 1997, this site provides alternative visitor information for Victoria, BC.
- WAP Alerts - Alerts and reminders delivered to your phone.
- Way Too Fat - As one man tries to lose weight, he documents his trials, travails and findings.
- A Viridian Future - The future promises to be a wild ride. We are going to more with technology, more biotech, do it with less impact on our environment. This blog talks about the Viridian Future we are traveling headlong towards.
And these are just the things we've got online now. Unfortunately, we have had to abandon a number of other projects due to a lack of time, or funds, or both. Luckily, we never seem to run out of ideas... we have many more in the wings.

About Our Goals
What do we ultimately hope to do with Very Good Cause? Fair enough, you have a right to know.
- We'd like to pay off our bills. We racked up a stupid amount of consumer debt that doesn't need to exist. We'd like it to go away. We are already working on it; it's a priority.
- We'd like to move. We live in an expensive city and we'd really like a bigger house -- we need a room or two we can dedicate to crafting and creating (we have this dream of stop-motion animation....)
- We'd like to work less in the 9to5 realm. We don't need to quit -- not right away -- but one or both of us could shift our schedule(s) to part-time.
- We'd like to create more stuff. Send us swag and we will write more reviews. Send us supplies and we'll make stuff. Send us some cash and an idea and, if it's within our abilities, we'll run with it.

What's With the Colors?
Our color scheme is predominantly orange. We painted a wall of our house and a couple of bookshelves with orange paint. I don't know what that proves, but I guess it says that we like the color orange. If you don't like orange, feel free to fiddle with your monitor tint until this site has a color that is appealing to you.
